The Institute for Wealth Management Standards
The IWMS
was founded by some of the most respected leaders in wealth management:
Don Trone, CEO/Chief Ethos Officer of 3ethos
Don Trone is the CEO/Chief Ethos Officer of 3ethos; a founding Director of the Institute for Wealth Management Standards; and, former Director of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Institute for Leadership. Don has been named by numerous organizations as “one of the most influential people” in the retirement, financial planning, and investment advisory industries. In 2003, he was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Labor to represent the investment counseling industry on the ERISA Advisory Council, and in 2007 he testified before the Senate Finance Committee on fiduciary issues associated with retirement plans investing in hedge funds. Don graduated as president of his class from the United States Coast Guard Academy, and served on active duty for ten years, including six years as a long-range search and rescue helicopter pilot. Don received his Master’s degree in Financial Services from the American College, and has completed post-graduate studies at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and Trinity Episcopal Seminary.
Charles A. Lowenhaupt, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lowenhaupt Global Advisors
Charles A. Lowenhaupt is a recognized industry leader in managing wealth for ultra-high net worth families around the world. He is also Managing Member of Lowenhaupt Global Advisor’s affiliated firm, Lowenhaupt & Chasnoff, LLC, the first U.S. law firm to concentrate in tax law and established by Lowenhaupt’s grandfather in 1908. Lowenhaupt is a Founding Advisory Faculty member of the Institute for Private Investors, and he advises the Institute as an Emeritus Member and contributor to its programs. He is also a co-founder and President of the Institute for Wealth Management Standards, a former Director of the Foundation for Fiduciary Studies in Pittsburgh, a Director of the St. Louis Art Museum and a Director of the Clements Library of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Lowenhaupt also serves as President of Temple Emanuel in St. Louis. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree (cum laude) from Harvard University. He also has a Juris Doctorate (Order of the Coif) from the University of Michigan Law School. He is a member of the Bar of New York and Missouri. Lowenhaupt is co-author with Don Trone of the book,
